The Porty Pride 2024 Events Programme
In order to make Porty Pride more accessible to those on a low income but still community-funded, we use a sliding scale ticket price for some of our events. You can choose what you pay based on your circumstances – you won’t be asked for any proof/ID. We just ask that you are honest!
We have indicated individually which events are indoors or outdoors below. Mask wearing is supported and encouraged (and will not be challenged) and we will have masks available for anyone to use. We recommend all who attend Porty Pride to do a Lateral Flow Test before attending an event. We support anyone wishing to be seated at a safe distance during an event, please just ask.
There are two car parks in Portobello that have blue badge spots.
1. Tumbles in Portobello on the Seafield end of the promenade at 20 Westbank Street, EH15 1DR
2. Bridge Street Car Park
Please be aware that it is common for unattended children and dogs in this area, driving by customers that is too fast for the car park, bad parking and individuals going the wrong way around the one way system.
Both Portobello Library and Porty Town Hall have accessible toilets.
We have events happening on Portobello beach and you may be interested in hiring a Beach Wheelchair if relevant - please see more information here

The past, present and future of queer self-publishing archiving in Scotland
LGBTQ+ voices and experiences have too often been excluded from mainstream media and publishing. In response, we have a long tradition of DIY self-publishing and archiving, to create our own spaces for our voices to be heard and for our stories to be saved for ours and future generations.
This panel discussion will explore the past, present and future of queer self-publishing and archiving in Scotland, from the grassroots origins of Lavender Menace to the possibilities and constraints offered by global digital archives.
We will explore how self-publishing and archives allow us to create community, but also consider barriers to engaging in self-publishing and archiving practices, and ask ourselves: how can we ensure the diversity of LGBTQ+ voices are included in the writings we publish and the histories we preserve?
The event will have BSL Interpreters
